More recently, the versatility of drywall was not contested, however, it was replaced by magnesite slabs, which have amazing properties. Glass-magnesium sheets. Specifications
Magnesium glass plate or magnesite plate is considered an environmentally friendly building material. It is made up of sheets up to 30mm thick. The magnesite slab is made of five layers: face, fiberglass, reinforcement, outer and inner filler layers. Also included in the composition of the plate are compounds such as carnallite and magnesium oxide, which are obtained by the anhydrous method. The surfaces are covered on both sides with a layer of fiberglass, which has a protective function.
Properties of glass-magnesium plates
- High fire resistance. The material from which the stove is made does not burn and does not emit smoke.
- Moisture resistance. When water gets on the stove, it does not swell or distort.
- Lightness and inflexibility of the material. Despite the fact that the mass of one magnesite slab is 6 kg, it is much stronger than a drywall wall.
- High thermal and sound insulation. The sound insulation of one 6 mm thick slab is 29 dB.
- Frost resistance and environmental friendliness of the material. Magnesite does not contain toxic substances such as asbestos, formaldehyde, etc.
Advantages and disadvantages of magnesium glass sheets
The main advantage of the magnesite slab is the minimum time required for installation work. The process of wall decoration with these slabs is several times faster than brick wall decoration. Magnesium glass sheets can be mounted both on metal beams and on a wood frame. Another advantage of the carbonate slab is its ease of transportation and storage. In addition, when installing this material, a minimum of construction waste remains.
Besides the advantages, the glass-magnesium plate has some disadvantages. One of them is the different thickness of the slabs, which leads to a change in their properties. If very thin slabs are used during the installation process, they can be damaged if careless.
