Coggala: Map, Weather, Beach

Koggala (Koggala) is a small, but very picturesque Sri Lanka resort on the shores of the Indian Ocean. The city is located on the south coast, 147 km from Colombo International Airport and 14 km from the nearest major town of Galle. Sometimes in the Russian-speaking segment of the Internet, the city is mistakenly called "Cogalla" or "Kagala".

It has become quite recently popular as a spa place of Koggala, therefore, tourism and infrastructure of the city are not much developed, but it also has its advantages - the beach is extremely few and clean even in seasonal time.

The Koggal has a local airport, several star hotels, a museum and a picturesque lake - a popular place to make light riverside walks. Coggal is a place where tourists are brought to an excursion, watch traditional Lankan fishing on the poles.

Transport in Koggall, Sri Lanka

The city has a bus and railway station connecting Koggall with Colombo and Galle. Since the railway station Koggala is very small, only local trains stop on it, you need to specify this moment in the schedule. Express trains in Sri Lanka make stops only at large stations, the closest of which is Galle.

Also in Koggal is a small airport, serving domestic flights from Sri Lanka. From the coggals to various cities (Polonnaruva, Candy, Sigiriya, etc.) can be reached by airport.

 • to the north: Khabraduva, Talpe, Mahriphenna, Unawatuna, Galle;
 • south: Ahangama, Midigam, Vallylae, Veligama.

In order to come to Koggall by public transport, it is necessary to sit at the airport to the 24-hour bus number 187 and it takes it to the central bus station.

If you arrive during the day, you can get from the airport to Colombo, reach the railway station Colombo Fort and from there to take the train to Koggali or, in case of express trains, to Galle, and then take a Tuk-Tuk to the destination. Be sure to specify the train you need at Unawatuna stations or should be done by without stops so that it does not become an unpleasant surprise.

If you fly at night, it makes sense to take advantage of buses, departing from the bus station Petthas, located 10 minutes walk from the railway station Colombo Fort and the central bus station. Buses number 2, 32 in the direction of Matara go around the clock.

In order to take advantage of the express bus passing through Highweight, you need to get from the airport to Tuk Tuka or bus to the Maharagam station and take the express to Matara. From Matara in Koggal, you can take the buses No. 2, 32, however it is worth noting that this version of the trips with transfers will be very long.

Rain Forest Hyary Reserve
Hiyare Rain Forest

Just 18 km from Koggali is a rainforest of Hyar with a reservoir, built more than a century ago and earlier, until 2002, which provided water to the water system of the city of Galle. The area of the reserve is only 2.5 sq. Km.

The reserve can be reached in 30-40 minutes. The reserve works the educational center. The reserve features a helping service of wild animals, where they save, treated, hurt and release wounded and affected wild animals.

A rainforest is distinguished in the Hyyar Reserve (Hiyare Reservoir Rainforest) - the habitat has a large number of endemics. Rainforest Hyary is a secondary low-rise tropical rainforest.

Given his small size, the hayar contains an amazing amount of endemic species: more than 150 species of fish, reptiles, amphibians, terrestrial snails and mammals live here, and they are more than 60 are endemic. If there is also birds, dragonflies and butterflies to the endemics list, it will be one of the highest concentrations of unique species found in one small tropical forest anywhere in the world! And every year, scientists discover all new species.

Koggali beach

Koggal is beautiful, one of the longest in Sri Lanka, clean, deserted, wide sandy beach Koggala Beach with fine light yellow sand in the frame of coconut palm trees, lasting almost 3 km away, to the neighboring village of Habraduva. Hotels are predominantly located along the coastline and are well suited for a secluded rest.

The width of the Koggali beach depends on the phases of the moon and varies greatly throughout the year. It is worth noting that Koggala is not in the bay, and therefore the waves there at the beginning and at the end of the season are quite strong. On the beach there are surf-spot and diving centers offering their services including for beginners. The length of the beach allows you to perform sports jogging and long walks along the ocean coast.

Hotels, Restaurants, Coggal Shops

As mentioned above, the tourist infrastructure in the koggal is poorly developed. The choice of hotels is not so wide as in the neighboring Unawatun or Veligam, and mainly represented by expensive 5 * hotels and several guesthouses. Restaurants are located during hotels, in the form of institutions of the highest price segment, there are several cafes. The city has a bank with exchanger, small shops, spa salon and gym with large hotels. In the north end of the beach, in Khabaraduwe, there are a pair of network stores: FoodCity and Sathosa.

Weather in Koggal

Since Koggala is a beach resort town, then visit it better during the tourist season, from November to April. During the remaining months, the weather does not favor beach rest and related entertainment. For months, when the most precipitation falls out is the offseason - May, June and October, November. Bathing in the ocean outside the season on the beaches located in open bays, especially in May and in October, may be unsafe for life. The air temperature during the year changes not significantly: during the daytime, its values range from + 24c to + 31c.

Coggal is a strip of abandoned resorts, 5-star hotels and small beach cafes in the south of Sri Lanka. The beaches in the Koggali area are not overflowing like beaches in the Hikkaduva area, Bentotes and Unavatuna. Many tourists attract the Koggala River and Lake Koggala.
First of all, Koggala is a wide and extended village on the southern coast of Sri Lanka with beautiful beaches and some of the best sacrifice places. Little shops are located in this resort area in which food, souvenirs and goods for everyday needs are mainly sold. You must like beach cafes in Koggal, which make it possible to enjoy delicious fresh seafood dishes right on the ocean or lagoon.
Some of the most interesting places to visit the Koggale are Buddhist temples, which are located on several ishes on Lake Koggala. Tourists can visit these temples only with prior permission. Also in Koggal, it is recommended to visit the Martin Vikaramasinghe Museum Museum. In addition, you can ride a catamaran on the lagoon, go fishing with local fishermen or make a bicycle walk along the paths around the lake. Warm Time of such a bicycle walk You can discover excellent vegetation and different animals, including snakes, lizards and birds.

Coggal on a Sri Lanka map

Koggala village is located almost at the very south of Sri Lanka Island. Galle's major town is 23 km away, and the distance from Koggal to another major city in the south of Sri Lanka, Matara, is 32 km away. As for the distance from Koggali to Colombo Airport, it is 164 km.
Next to the village of Koggala, you can find such resorts such as Veligam and Mirissa (a little east) and Unawatuna (a little west).

How to get to Koggali from Colombo Airport

Of course, almost all tourists would like to get from Colombo airport to Koggali by taxi, as this is the fastest and most comfortable way. However, the taxi cost in this case will be quite high (in the area of 100 dollars), so often travelers are looking for alternative options. Such options are trains and bus rides. In any case, in order to get to Koggali from Colombo Airport, you first need to get from the airport to the bus station or Colombo railway station (they are nearby) by bus or taxi, and already here to transfer to the train or the bus going to Matara. These trains and buses pass through Koggall. You can also get from Colombo to Galle, and already from there on a taxi or other transport to koggal.

Weather in Koggale by months

Although in Koggal, you can relax all year round, after all, not every month is great for a beach holiday in this resort area. The fact is that, despite the constantly high air temperature (on average, around 29-32 degrees during the day), the difference in the amount of precipitation between different months of the year can be quite large.
Since Koggala is located in the south of Sri Lanka, then in the period from May to November, the southwest monsoon dominates. What does it mean? This means that in this period of the year, the weather in Koggal is rather rainy and windy. Of course, even at this time of the year there are often sunny days suitable for a beach holiday, but all the likelihood of good weather and the calm ocean from May to November is noticeably lower than in the period from December to April. Therefore, there is nothing surprising that experts advise to go to Koggall from December to April, when the weather is relatively dry and sunny.

Koggala Beach

Koggala Beach is an excellent plot of clean water and soft golden sand, which is ideal for long walking. You can also quickly get there from here to the nearby bays of Ahangama and Midigam.
Coggala - relatively unknown beach paradise in the deep southern Sri Lanka. This beach is deprived of attention of the crowd of tourists. A stunningly beautiful long section of the beach in Koggale causes visitors to leave their concerns behind and enjoy the atmosphere of real paradise. However, it is not only about the sun, the ocean and sand. Coggal has many interesting places and entertainment, such as museums, historical fort, temples, lighthouse and even a small rainforest reserve.

Lake Koggala

In fact, the lake Koggala is a lagoon, as it communicates with the Indian Ocean. This is a large lake on the islands, on one of which is the Buddhist temple, which attracts many visitors in the days of the full moon. Another island on this lake is interesting because of its cinnamon plantation.
You can make a 90-minute excursion on the boat on the lake and the islands at a price in the area of 4000 rupees on a four-seater motor boat. In addition to the main attractions, which we told a little higher, you can also visit a small island village and see a lot of birds (hawks, Herkel, etc.).

Koggala Beach is located in the south of Sri Lanka Island, between Unavatuna and Mirissa. There are practically no people on Cogalla Beach. They are also rarely found as a cafe along the coastline. The beach is extended, like everyone else. In our independent journey on Sri Lanka, we stopped on 1 day for rest in Koggal.

North Koggala Beach

Central part of Koggala district. The area of Habaraduwa includes the same part. Here is the longest and wide beach. He was even named Long Beach, as it is really a long, as much as 4 km of yellow sand. Waves are large, swim in the ocean will not work normally. On the first line, several large hotels:

 • THE FORTRESS RESORT & SPA 5 *
 • Koggala Beach Hotel.
 • THE LONG BEACH RESORT
 • Club Koggala Village.
 • Kk Beach Hotel.

Fishermen on sticks

In the area of Kogalla, you can watch the "fishermen", which are sitting on the porchos in the water. For the denyuzhka they allow them to photograph. You can even try to climb the stick and take a picture with the fishing rod. This is a tourist attraction, fishermen are unreal. Behind the photo are asked from 100 to 500 rupees. Climb on a stick of 1500 rupees. A point on the map .

Where to book transfer from the airport?

We use the service - Kiwitaxi.
Ordered a taxi online, paid for the card. At the airport, they met with a sign with our last name. Brought the hotel on a comfortable car. About your experience already told in this article.

Southern Coggal

We did not stop on the main beach of Koggal, as all hotels have too low ranking there, except for the 5-star fortress for $ 500 per day. Therefore, chose the south. Beach at the South Lake Resort. This beach section can be passed in 15 minutes. It is convenient to walk, the beach is flatter, like the sand is not so falling, although it also consists of any pebbles and seashells.

The ocean on Cogalla Beach is the same raw, as elsewhere. The waves are present, where without them on Sri Lanka. Walking in such waves is unsafe. People walk to the far left of the beach, where relatively calm and can be shielded a little or hang on the waves. There is a South Point Villa Hotel there

On the beach Koggala we did not bathe. But walked here 2 hours with pleasure. Here quietly, there are no merchants and stuck, as on other beaches Lanka, and this is half of the success.

There is no shadow on Cogalle. A small curtain from the Sun in the form of a sprawling tree is, again, in the level of the left where to swim most convenient. Also in the center of the beach there are a dozen deck chairs with umbrellas owned by the hotels of South Lake Resort and South Beach Resort. There you can order something to drink or snack.

Where to eat in Koggal. Cafe on Kogalla South Beach

In this part of the beach, we visited the only cafe of the hotel South Beach Resort. It is even very decent, but they remained unhappy. Food waiting time for all few visitors amounted to (!) More than an hour. We waited for our order first on the sun beds that reminded us of the bed on the beach. Little fell asleep even. Already started the sunset, and we were all waiting and waited. And now, finally brought! So much waited and received two tasteless dishes. I was subsequently served to me (in an hour it was possible to turn it in the corner !!). Classic restaurant in Sri Lanka - all for a very long time, from cooking, before the invoice is waiting, and then more

Hello everyone :) Two weeks ago, returned from Sri Lanka. Since before the trip, trying to learn more about this country, I wanted the reviews of other tourists, I decided not to be lazy and write your own review :)

We rested at the Koggala resort, Koggala Beach. I must say, we got to the point! The hotel is cool, everything is clean, neat, the beach is simply awesome, wide, beautiful, as in the pictures. I want to say, for those who will choose hotels in Koggal, even 5 star Fortress's star hotel nearby there is no such beach, moreover, they don't have a beach :) where the territory of the hotel ends, a small break and everything. There is no beach :) Sample the same situation in Koggala Village, but better, closer to go to a normal beach.

But, most importantly, this is the ocean. Many have already written, but I repeat - it's something. As we joked by the end of the trip: the sea is a big puddle compared to the ocean. It is just unreal power and beauty. Something like on the planet Earth is not!

By the way, the truth is written, with the ocean you have to be careful. He has a colossal thrust. The guys bathed a little longer, and I couldn't more than 10 minutes, you're getting tired, as if the swim in the pool makes the swims in the pool 15 there :) It was usually squeezed :) J But the pleasure of the sea. Waves on the sea do not even stand nearby.

And in general, not only the ocean, but also the nature of the country we certainly struck us, the most unbelievable. And the climate, by the way, is quite pleasant, there is no strong stuffiness and the humidity is not so felt as in other countries of the Asian region, so it is very comfortable to relax.

Regarding the transfer. Everything was great. Thank God, Lankans began to build autobahn. Already built autobahn from Colombo (Capital) along the entire southwest coast. So we got to the hotel quickly, hours 3, of which 1 hour we were wheeling in the outskirts of Colombo and, since the movement there was terrible, it was very long :) But when we got on the autobahn, the speed of movement increased significantly :)

By the way, at the airport the most profitable course, in mid-September was 130 rupees for 1 dollar, in the hotel 123 rupees. At the airport with reverse departure, on the receipt that you were given when exchanging when you arrive, you can change the back unproved rupees for dollars. When exchanging, immediately ask to exchange some major bills into small (50-100 rupees), and you can also approach the hotel at the reception and ask for a minor, but not always happen. Small bills are simply necessary with it always to have, at a minimum because it is not included in the mentality of Lanatsev; as well as for tip.

Also at the airport is very profitable and cheap to buy a SIM card for mobile. It is better to take Mobitel, the connection is better. It costs 1000 rupees (approx. 7.5 bucks), from which 850 rupees fall into account. There are booths operators in almost the easiest of the airport on the left. Communication is very cheap, they spoke with Chisinau, Kiev, Moscow, even at the end of the holidays broke the head to whom else to call to chat so that the money would do, so as not to disappear :) In the coggale for the SIM card welded at times more expensive, something about 700-800 rupees only for the SIM card, empty.

We arrived at the hotel at 8 am, we were immediately settled, which was just wonderful, given the difficult road.

We took all inclusive and did not regret. Guys, eat there really no place outside the hotel. There are two cafes, one immediately near the hotel, the other little further. Or in the shops to take something like something. In the hotel itself, separate lunch or dinner is expensive. Alcohol only in separate shops are sold, in Galle (about half an hour of ride on Tuk-Tuka). All inclusive for our calculations cost us an order of magnitude cheaper than we would eat and bought drinks and alcohol themselves. By the way, who will try their famous red rum: in the hotel red rum sucks. If you want a really delicious local red rum, take Calypso rum alcoholic becks, this is the best Lankan red rum, checked :) It costs a small bottle of 375 ml - about 700 rupees (approx. 5-6 dollars), large liter - about 1400 rupees (10-11 bucks).

A, I would like to warn right away. Tips there want everything. Hotel staff (all, and not just maid), drivers of bees, sellers, just passersby. On a tea plantation, we immediately ran up women-worker to be photographed, and then asked for money. In the elephant nursery, the guys workers lead elephants closer to the tourist so that he photographed, then asking for money. Even in a free toilet in the restaurant in Kandy, when we leave back, we came across a notebook, who tried to ask for money. Everything is clear, the country is poor, the order of our poorer, but. Of course, it is necessary to give it sometimes, but there are 100 rupees, there are 100 rupees (about $ 1), and if you can not restrain, you can stay without money :) We distributed in the first days, and then began to reduce the revs to avoid bankruptcy :)

Yet. For those who smoke, reserve more cigarettes, as there are no normal cigarettes on Sri Lanka. This is a trouble. There is only dunhill lousy (500 rupees - 4 bucks) and Malboro smuggling from Vietnam on the beach at the local, very strong, 400 rupees (approximately 3 bux), and sell only 10 bucks. For me, smoking light thin cigarettes are a catastrophe. In addition, they shoot cigarettes all who are not too lazy, again, because they don't sell cigarettes good, but they seemed to smoke a normal tobacco. Therefore, they ask for everything: bichboe, guards, lifefall, etc. :) Again, maybe only here, maybe there is no, but it was much easier for us than at home, maybe because of the climate, but it went twice as much cigarettes on the day than at home.

Excursions unambiguously need to take on site from local guys. They have everything already has everything, there are her tuk-tuki, buses, guides, etc. And much cheaper.

By the way, I would like to celebrate two guys: Gemini and Nimal, especially Gemini, he helped us very much, we were with him on two excursions, I ordered shrimps ready to be delicious (later I will write about it), I brought me coconuts, I brought us into the tricks Galle, in the shops on her Tuk-Tuka, if we had to find us still Tuk-Tuki, if we were a company and were needed by Tuk-Tuki, treated us with local fruits, sweets, sometimes advised us where to go, where cheaper. I brought us a fruit "Durian" for free (we really wanted to try, because they were heard about this fruit, Gemini brought us one on a sample, why is one thing - it's just sooo stinks like a rotten bow, but the taste is sweet. In general, the impression is still . The guys were singed, and I could not swallow because of the smell :) As Jemin said - it really raises the potency in men this fruit :)

We were with Gemini on two excursions. I want to note that he worked well, looked at the time that where, so that we had time everywhere. For example, in an elephant kennel, it was necessary to have time to catch the elephants at first with the nursery itself, and then they are going to swim if they miss all the pleasure. I stopped in different places beautiful so that we could take a picture, adding our attention to some things that we ourselves would notice. If there were requests to stop something to buy, I spoke to the driver to stop when we arrived to the place where it can be purchased. It was clear that it tries to work well. If someone needs contacts, please use: GEMINI: 0094726539424, Nimal: 00940777889065. Both are well-sayingly spoken in Russian, you can understand. If you call, just tell me in what hotel you will come to the beach in the reception area or to the hotel goal from the road. At the meeting, it is much easier and clearer to talk with them than by phone :) It is impossible to enter the territory of the hotel, as well as the other local population.

Our first excursion: Elephant Pathovella nursery + ride in elephants (the cost of riding in the price is expensive, it is expensive, about 12 bucks per person, you can ride only two) + see how elephants bathe in the river, then the garden of the spices, then Kandy and Temple Buddha, then waterfalls and mountain tea plantations Nuwar Elia. The excursion is awesome, we were in complete delight. Very beautiful places. Full emotions and new impressions returned. Cost an excursion of $ 75 per person (including all entrance tickets, i.e. we gave our 75 bucks guide, and he himself had paid for the entire excursion for our entrance tickets, fees, etc.), in time - with 4 am to 12 nights. Do not be afraid, it is worth it to get up at 4 am :) Bead is excellent, comfortable, with kondeem. By the way, who will go, do not hesitate to ask the dry paks at the hotel in the evening on the eve of the departure so that at 4 in the morning you were given a breakfast with you, and in the evening you were left dry dinner dinner at the reception. We ordered ladies and ourselves, and the guys who went to a tour and who did not have all inclusive, and even a guide and driver :)

By the way, after tea plantations, we were brought to a tea factory with a tea shop at the factory. We first did not want to buy anything, thought that this divorce and in supermarkets in cities would be cheaper. It turned out to be wrong. There are no such tea in supermarkets, there is mainly for sale cheap tea-tube for local. By the way, in Duty Friend in Colombo, too, the choice is not ahti, and expensive. So we did not regret that all the same decided to buy a real mountain ceylon tea there in Nuwara, even the guys in the hotel, who went after us, ordered more tea to buy. At the cost of 100 grams of a pack of about $ 2, 300 grams - about $ 3 this is black tea, green tea is about $ 3 per 150 grams. In the same place, you can sit on the terrace to try tea, bring free of charge. Silver or white tea is very expensive, these are some kind of special varieties, but again we asked us on the terrace, we were delivered to try, nothing particularly felt. Maybe we are just not experts :)

The second excursion: the Lighthouse of the DonDa (the southernmost point of Sri Lanka) and Safari on jeeps in the Yalla Reserve. The lighthouse is very beautiful and terrain around awesome. It's not worth a lighthouse to rise, honestly, you will not see anything interesting there, and the rise in a narrow screw staircase is quite tedious, even for our guys, although they are strong enough J besides very stuffy inside. The guys after the lighthouse went swimming right in clothes, since everything was wet from sweat through :) And I cried in the sink for about 5 minutes :)

Safari did not particularly impress us. On the jeep with a bad rubber, it was a little problematic to move around the ordinary sandy road, sometimes it seemed that the teeth would fly out now :) Beasts saw: elephants (very far), buffaloes, crocodiles, a lot of roe, Magunsta (far), Varana, wild rooster, Pavlinov, monkey one, wild boar, who left the rest of the other boar left after the predator, and even Jaguar. As I read before in the reviews, it is rare, so it is unrealistic lucky. He ran straight in front of our jeep and disappeared into the bushes and he looked at us from there. The rest of the jeeps arrived at our satisfied squeezes did not have time to see anything, as Jaguar had already escaped somewhere far into the bushes. And so, all the way I wanted to get out of the jeep and get closer to the animals to consider closer, but naturally it was forbidden, therefore there was no special delight, since all animals were at a decent distance. But from a cognitive point of view and desire to see more in this wonderful country - it was interesting. In time, we left the hotel at 9 am, with a check-in on the lighthouse, then in Yalla. They snapped in a restaurant, and hours from 3 to 6 pm rode the park. Then go home. It cost an excursion of $ 60 (including all entrance tickets).

Galle did not impress us at all. The noisy town, dirty, stinking periodically absolutely exotic combinations for us :) walked around the ruins of the Dutch fort; They tried to buy fruit on the local market, did not come out, since seeing foreigners, local merchants begin to cram just breathtaking prices, and went back home. To Galle, about half an hour ride on Tuk Tuk and 400-500 rupees (3-4 dollars) for a trip for one Tuk-Tuk there. In one Tuk-Tuk, 3 people are placed as much as possible. If you want to go to the city, it is better to go to Matar, it's up to the other side of the hotel than Galle, an hour riding on Tuk Tuka, but there is much more fun.

We went to the Turtle Farm. All, including adult men, during the holding of small turtles in their hands, were simply the delight of facial expressions :) It is worth the entrance 400 rupees (approx. 3 bucks) Plus a trip to Tuk-Tuka back back for 5 and 200 rupees for Tuk-Tuk ( 1.5 bucks).

By the way, if you are somewhere brought to a tuk-tuka, a tuk tucker awaits you to the end how much you need, while you are, look around.

We went to the lake Koggala. Satisfied with the usual trip to the Motorka. I drove on some peninsula where there were very high monkeys on two trees, it was not possible almost no, it was possible to consider only in the camera lens. Seen one Warana in the water. It cost a trip to the motorcle 10 bucks per person (plus 200 rupees for Tuk-Tuk to the lake), no longer let us, our Guy Guide immediately said that $ 10, so when we booters were told about it, they immediately agreed without conversations, although Tried at the beginning to dilute more. I do not even know if it was worth riding, I would not advise. But again, it is possible for sports interest.

Several times ordered from Gemini shrimp, he brought ready-made, were with a delicious garlic-tomato sauce, they were just boiled in water with salt. Very large, cost 800 rupees per kilogram (approx. 6 bucks). Emboss!

Very wanted to make a picnic on the beach on my birthday. Did not work out. By the way, if you tell you that it is possible, do not believe. Police does not allow. We promised to do local a few days before the birthday, as a result of the birthday, they reported to us that it was impossible, and they were not suggested to just bring ready-made shrimp, and to excite on the beach together. It was clear that they just want to eat and drink our. In the market in Galle, fish and shrimp is again impossible to buy, as, seeing foreigners, prices increase sharply. For 1 kilo shrimp, 15 bucks wanted.

With a tour "Whale watches in the ocean" tour, be careful - whales swim away from the coast of Sri Lanka around November to April, if you are offered such a tour at other times of the year - this is a divorce.

As already wrote in other reviews - when planning any trips, consider the duration of the day. Day and night here at 12 o'clock. It starts to brighten in 6 and 7 already light, dark in 18 and to 19 nothing can be seen.

Also, Gemini took us in the shop of wooden products of different. Beautiful, mostly from an ebony or pink tree. Bought a small, pink tree statuette, approx. 18 centimeters, 2000 rupees (15 bucks), an ashtray from EBONITA 600 rupees (4.5 bucks), elephant Pink tree 1200 rupees (9 bucks) and a Tuk-Tuk from the plywood cute for 600 rupees. They did not regret the money, everything is very beautiful, good memory of the trip. Immediately can be seen how it works next to the workshop. A boy who pulls all these figures. When buying more than one thing makes a good discount. In other places, specially looked, much more expensive. About the hotel in general silent. At prices, what they put there, half the shop can be bought.

About insects. Mosquitoes there are just reptiles. Unlike ours, they are not heard and practically not visible. Sitting in the evening outdoors, it is better to smell something. And so, it seems to be all right. Extreme insects were not. A small iguana lives on site, lives mostly in the grass between the pool and the beach, and a few very funny chipmowns. We fed them with nuts and cookies.

Also, it is worth with me to take a tan cream more powerful and necessarily the cream after a tan with panthenol, since the sun is very strong, even burning the guys even tanned. As well as a first-aid kit with native drugs, if there is no medicine there, they have a major slope to alternative medicine :)

About linen read before traveling reviews that underwear is dirty, gray. We had nothing like that. All white, clean, change towels every day, i.e. All in the framework of the normal hotel service :)

At the reception there is a safe, it is very funny money, we paid 2 bucks in 10 days. You are approaching with your key that is kept all the time with you and take from your cell everything you have to day and night. Very convenient and safe.

The hotel also has laundry facilities. We also laughed for a long time when prices saw. Behind the mountain of the lingerie, which we threw themselves at the arrival, and these are two pairs of pants, two pairs of T-shirts, warm shoes, socks, panties, well, that is, all that we were, we paid 5 dollars! I have not seen this anywhere. I felt with my husbands bourgeois when there were things in the washing. And they wash well, never spoiled anything, things are neatly folded, very pleasant smelling. Just because of the moisture, things will dry for a long time, so we even slightly dirty things have already delivered such a type, although the main goal was drying things :)

About sockets. Uncomfortable, because not ours. At the reception can give an adapter, but not enough for everyone. If you are not lucky, the socket there is one hole above, two from the bottom, so take the handle and poke into the hole above, do not be afraid, there are no current there, two lower holes will open and you can insert

A little more about prices:

Coconuts guys bring - 5 rupees;

Beer Local Lyon - 200 rupees (approx. 1.5 dollars) for a bottle of 650 grams;

Water Simple 0.5 - about 40 rupees (30 cents)

Fed, Cola 0.5 - 90 rupees (70 cents)

In the cafes Beer Lyon - 370 rupees (3 bucks)

Massage at the Koggala Village Hotel - 10 dollars per hour (cool, from the ear of the ears to heels);

Prices in the restaurant are just near the hotel (by the way, a very cute restaurant and tasty) - 600-900 rupees (5-7 dollars) for a decent dish with something maritime (fish, squid, etc.) + Potato Free + Salad. Simple water in a bottle of 100 rupees 1 liter. Milk cocktail - 250 rupees (2 bucks).

By the way, who has children, grandchildren, nephews. Very cheap baby clothes. We have no children, but the neighbors of Kievan scored a whole package of any clothes for funny money. For example, a very pretty dress for the girl (the tissue is good, do not think that it was cheap) worth 1 dollar.

For guys, who flies from Kiev Lookestami Airarabia and Flydubai. Food in the plane is very expensive. Oroy little something like Shaurama, costs 5-7 dollars, beer 0.33 - 7 dollars, juice 200 ml or simple water 0.5 liters - 3 dollars, strong alcohol 50 grams - 7 dollars. View TV series - 3 dollars, movie - 9 dollars. For comparison: at Dubai airport during transflection if you have a snack in McDonalds: Cheeseburger - $ 3, Dublichzburger - 6 dollars (one Dublichzburger is approximately two shaws in the aircraft in terms of size and degrees of "eternity" :) Sweet water, mineral water at Dubai Airport - 1 dollar . You can rush into the plane. So reserve meals and drinks in Kiev and in Dubai.

About magnets, knowing that many buy friends for gifts, and we, including, I can not say. The hotel is very expensive, if you see somewhere cute in the cities, shops - take, 300 rupees on average cost (2-3 bucks), at the airport the choice is very meager, prices are the same, not cheaper than in the city. Read somewhere earlier in the reviews that at the airport is cheaper. Nothing like this, the whole airport was climbing.

About visa. In principle, in travel agencies should speak, but still clarify. There is an electronic visa registration on the official website of immigration http://eta.gov.lk. Everything is enough enough there. Fill out a small questionnaire, pay the card. There is a visa of $ 20. If you arrive, you can also make a visa, but it is a queue, time, and worth a $ 25 visa. Therefore, Lankans recommend registering Online. It is necessary to print a notification that will come to your email and show when arrive in Colombo.

For lovers of tea, a little bit from the grades of tea Ceylon (I, for example, did not know, maybe you will be useful):

Orange Pekoe - black sheet tea from the following kidney leaves;

Pekoe is a twisted sheet, black tea from the leaves of lateral shoots or from the third and fourth leaves;

BOP - BROKEN ORANGE PEKOE, i.e. chopped orange pekoe. It is considered a golden middle among teas;

BOPF - Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings, i.e. Completely chopped Orange Pekoe. Usually used in bags;

FOP. - flowery Orange Pekoe, black sheet tea from the following kidney leaves, having sufficient contents of tips (kidneys that are the main source of tea fragrance)

Dust is dust, the smallest tea is what remains as a result of processing tea leaves. Its basically and drink Lankans, because the cheapest.

As we were explained in the factory, the smaller the pets of tea, the more stronger.

Lake Cogalla was one of the largest airports for water planes during the war and an important strategic paragraph of the British for refueling during flights to Australia. On July 10, 1943, the first one of 271 flights to Australia was performed. The flight held from 27 to 32 hours and passengers during the flight two times met dawn in the air. At the end of each flight, they were issued certificates of a member of the "Secret Club of Double Sunrise". But, the British from Sri Lanka have long left, and now local fishermen and crocodiles are commissioned on the lake.

Valuable things better leave on the shore, "said one of the fishermen when we were already sitting in the boat. There were 2 cameras, lenses, telephones and documents from valuables.
- What? Crocodiles can make the camera during fishing?
"No, just unstable boats and often turn over ..." Rybak pleased. We were not ready for such a turn, it didn't have to go without a camera, so we decided to take a chance. One camera was removed into the waterproof package for underwater shooting, the second was left on the shore.

01. Bus stop, here we met with fishermen.

02. This is how the boat looks like, very small and unstable. The main thing is not to be tilted on board without a float.

The photo shows that in from 1943, the boats of local fishermen did not change.

03. Not visible at all, no plaintive flashlight saves. The camera is removed into the waterproof package.

04. Arthur. Upon learning that crocodiles are not just found in the lake, but there is still an opportunity to swim with them, he completely refused to go. The eight-year-old child decided that it would be better to stay alone on the shore of the lake in full solitude than to swim with crocodiles. "And big crocodiles?", - "No! Meters 5, small!" - laughed fishermen.

05. Everything is ready, you can go on the road.

06. Little boats very quickly leave the shore. After some time the shore is no longer visible, it is almost impossible to shoot, dark.

07.

08.

09. Fishing with a precipitated network.

10. Round five-meter network with cargo at the ends. Fisherman spins it in the air and throws into the water where it is revealed.

11.

12.

13. On average, there are 1-2 fish for 5 shots.

14. Near the shore fisherman with a bright lantern hunts the crabs.

15. A small strait connects the lake with the ocean, crabs and sea fish are swimming in the lake.

16.

17. They speak for these crabs in Malaysia and Singapore give big money.

18.

19. The fish also sails on bright light, it is easy to catch a sacc.

20. By the way, recently crocodiles fought the dog of the local rich, who decided to drink water from the lake.

21.

22.

23. Another fisherman puts traditional networks. Little boats constantly cling the network floats.

24. Calm.

25. All night, fishermen catch fish and crabs, and early in the morning the dealers are tightened to the village to take out the catch to the markets.
